Fatima Al Qadiri announces new EP Shaneera, drops track Alkahaf

It’s out on 13 October via Hyperdub

The Kuwaiti producer and visual artist has announced the release of her forthcoming EP Shaneera. The title, she explains, is “the English mispronunciation of the Arabic word, shanee’a (شنيعة), literally meaning ‘outrageous, nefarious, hideous, major and foul.'” For the artist, the Arabic word refers to a “gender-defying persona (or temporary state or action)” and an “evil queen”.

The artist has described the new work as “evil-as-fuck” and revealed that it’ll include “all-Arabic lyrics”.

Accompanying the announcement is the release of the track Alkahaf online, featuring Bobo Secret and Lama3an.
