Radiohead release ominous video for Lift

The track is from the band’s compilation reissue OKNOTOK

Radiohead have dropped an Oscar Hudson-directed visual for the track Lift. The four-minute video features Thom Yorke in an elevator joined by an array of characters at each stop. He’s greeted with a different scene at each break, and strangers peer into the lift as he observes from the confines of the elevator.

The track was originally created for the band’s seminal album OK Computer, but never made the cut. Band member Ed O’Brien said in a BBC 6 Music interview said that the band had “subconsciously killed [Lift] and likened the recording process of Lift to having a “gun to the head” due to mounting pressure. This year, they released the compilation reissue OKNOTOK with the previously unreleased tracks I Promise, Man Of War and Lift.
