Perfume Genius releases video of fan-made footage for Wreath

The new visual features clips collated from his previously announced dance contest

Earlier this year, Mike Hadreas – otherwise known as Perfume Genius – announced a dance contest. For the competition, he asked fans to send in footage of them dancing to the No Shape track Wreath. Now, he’s released a visual for the single featuring a compilation of clips from dance participants.

Hadreas has said that the song is about wanting to be freed from his physical body. According to the press release, “his goal with the contest and video was to encourage the same sense of ecstatic freedom and abandon that he felt in the studio.”

The winner of the contest is Esperanza Kroger, who was filmed dancing freely in the streets of Cholula, Mexico. Wreath is the third single from Hadreas’ brilliant 2017 album, following on from Slip Away and Die 4 You. Recently, Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith stepped up for remix duties on Wreath.
