The collection features her favourite Kuti piece of all time
Erykah Badu has curated the next instalment of an ongoing series of Fela Kuti box sets. Entitled Fela Kuti Box Set #4, the collection of vinyl reissues will be made available in a limited run of 3,000 copies. It’s due to land on 15 December via Knitting Factory Records.
“Fela Kuti is a Fucking Genius,” she said in a reported statement. “Please listen to these tracks, preferably with a nice blunt… with a nice slow burn.”
Selected vinyls include Yellow Fever, No Agreement, J.J.D. (Johnny Just Drop), V.I.P., Coffin For Head of State, Army Arrangement and Underground System. The box set will also include personal essays from Badu, unpublished photos and commentaries on Kuti. Previous box sets have been curated by Questlove, Ginger Baker and Brian Eno.
