Ethan Kath has filed a defamation lawsuit against former Crystal Castles band member Alice Glass.
In a statement posted to her website on 24 October, Glass accused her ex-bandmate Kath of rape, of being “physically abusive” and “manipulative”. She wrote, “He forced me to have sex with him or, he said, I wouldn’t be allowed to be in the band anymore.”
Kath has since denied the allegations. According to TMZ, Kath claims that Glass is seeking publicity for her new musical venture and her allegations have lost the band $300,000 in profits after the cancellation of their tour. The band were dropped from their management company and booking agency following Glass’ allegations.
He said, “Alice and I had a long ongoing relationship both personal and professional. When she suddenly left Crystal Castles to handle her mental health issues and substance abuse issues I fully supported her. I will continue to support her quest to wellness but I can’t support extortion, false claims, and accusations put forth after the band attained new success without her.”
“False allegations take away voice from true victims and that’s what saddens me most about all of this,” he added.
