Kelela has released a new video for latest single Blue Light, taken from her debut album Take Me Apart.
The artist posted the video to her Twitter with the caption: “Watch me have sex wit my hair in the Blue Light video”. Directed by Helmi, the three-minute visual sees Kelela’s hair progressively grow longer and wrap around her. It ends with the artist dressed only in her hair.
Earlier this year, Kelela spoke to radio host Ebro Darden and revealed that the track is “about the moment when you break up with people after you’re single; you’re sort of in this moment where you’re like, ‘I’m not doing anything serious. I’m not trying to get into anything deep. Gotta like take it slow. Not trying to do that.’ And then you hit this point when you’re with somebody where you’re like, ‘Fuck it, blue light.'”
Recently, Kelela penned a personal essay for Resident Advisor on race, tokenism and visibility in the music industry.
The visual follows up from the album’s lead single LMK. Watch the video in the player above and read Crack’s review of Take Me Apart.
