Jonghyun, lead singer of K-Pop supergroup SHINee, dies age 27

Kim Jong-hyun, who went by the stage name Jonghyun, was found unconscious at his residence in Cheongdam-dong, Seoul, on Monday night (18 December).

His sister made a call to emergency services, reporting that her brother was attempting to commit suicide. He was later taken to hospital and pronounced dead.

Gangnam Police have provided a statement saying: “On December 18, 2017 at 4:42PM Jonghyun’s older sister reported to Police that her brother was about to commit suicide.”

“We went to his residence in Chungdam and discovered that he had attempted to commit suicide. Emergency responders were with us at the time so we rushed him to the Konkuk University Hospital in a state of cardiac arrest.”
