Moor Mother and DJ Lycox step up for Sonic Acts Academy 2018

Sonic Acts Academy is set to stage its next instalment on 23-25 February across various venues in Amsterdam, such as Dansmakers and Paradiso Noord – Tolhuistuin.

Artists confirmed for the line-up include artist and activist Moor Mother, Príncipe’s DJ Lycox, the Philadelphia-based DJ Haram, visual artist Martijn van Boven, film director Ane Hjort Guttu, Berlin-based artist and filmmaker Filipa César and Swan Meat amongst others.

With an inclusive ethos at its core, Sonic Acts is a platform that showcases artists who resist, or haven’t had the privilege of, academia. The three-day event will question the function of art and the artist, with musicians, visual artists, thinkers and theorists on board. Conversations will revolve around the ‘decolonisation of thought’ and how education can be used as a tool for growth.

Furthermore, there’ll be pre-festival events at the EYE Filmmuseum and Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam.
