Former Crack cover star Nicolas Jaar has shared a previously unreleased track entitled Coin In Nine Hands. It was made in the summer of 2015.
The artist has announced that a deluxe edition of his 2016 Sirens LP is due to be released this Friday (8 December) via Other People. Coin In Nine Hands will feature on the upcoming release, which will also include two additional new tracks.
On the new edition, he said via Twitter, “this deluxe version of the record is what it should have been all along but i got scared of “coin” and decided against it at the last minute.. but then i started performing coin at every show… i couldn’t get it out of me..everything floats to the surface at some point..”
Furthermore, Jaar has shared a string of articles online that map out the surrounding context of the song. The articles focus on Palestinian prisoner Mohammad Allan, conflict in the Middle East, journalist Muhammad al-Qiq and Riyadh’s regime amongst other topics.
In October, the artist revealed that he’s created a “new ambient record”. The majority of the as-yet-untitled album was performed live at Manhattan’s The Kitchen on 24 October.
