Simple Things announce Kelela Bristol show for 2018

Bristol’s Simple Things has added a special show to its winter programme, announcing that RnB artist Kelela will be heading up the stage at SWX on 23 February.

First making waves in the music industry with her 2013 mixtape Cut 4 Me, and later her brilliant 2015 EP Hallucinogen on Warp, anticipation ran high for her 2017 debut album Take Me Apart. From her first full-length came the lead single LMK, accompanied by a futuristic video directed by Björk collaborator Andrew Thomas Huang.

Her debut album Take Me Apart came out earlier this year and featured in the Top 50 of our Top 100 Albums of 2017.

Those who’ve previously been announced for Simple Things shows next year include Scottish post-rock legends Mogwai, who’ve released their ninth studio album Every Country’s Sun this year – their first since 2014’s Rave Tapes. Following the Glaswegian band is Fatima Yamaha on 7 February at The Marble Factory, and the Mercury Prize-nominated Manchester trio GoGo Penguin, who’ll be taking over the city’s Trinity Centre with their blend of hard-hitting jazz and electronica.
