Following the news of Lana Del Rey confirming that she is, indeed, being sued by Radiohead for allegedly plagiarising their 90s hit Creep on her song Get Free, fans have been trolling, and debating, the two songs on the band’s Instagram.
An abundance of snake emojis have since appeared on the comment sections, with fans comparing which of the artists have more wealth. Simple proclamations of “GET FREE!!!!!!” have stormed the band’s posts.
Yesterday, (7 January), the singer revealed that she offered the band 40 percent of the track’s publishing to settle the dispute. However, Radiohead have refused the offer and “will only accept 100”. Del Rey posted a statement on Twitter, saying, “Their lawyers have been relentless, so we will deal with it in court.”
Get Free is the last track off Del Rey’s 2017 album Lust for Life. The song is credited with Del Rey, Kieron Menzies and Rick Nowels as writers.
