Slayer announce final world tour

The former Crack cover stars have dropped a video online announcing a farewell tour.

The dates are yet to be confirmed. On Facebook, the video is captioned with: “The End is Near…Slayer to tour the world one more time…”

According to Loudwire, band member Tom Araya said in a 2016 interview, “After 35 years, it’s time to like, collect my pension”.

Co-founding guitarist Kerry King once told KLAQ 95.5 FM that if the group were to split in the future, a reunion tour would not be considered. He said, “If I gear-down not to do this, I don’t want to come back and do it any more.”

“I don’t want to be that band that goes away and comes back, and goes away and comes back. I want to play until we’re done, and be done with it.”

The thrash metal group was first formed in 1981 by Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman. They went on to release 12 studio albums, and their most popular tracks include Raining Blood and Angel of Death. In 2013, drummer Dave Lombardo was ousted from the band and Hanneman died at 49 years of age.
