Oscars 2018: Frances McDormand wins Best Actress for ‘Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri’

Frances McDormand is taking home the Academy Award for Actress in a Leading Role.

The actor won the prize for her performance as Mildred in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. It’s McDormand’s second Oscar having won for her leading role in the Coen Brothers’ Fargo.

Earlier in the night, Sam Rockwell won for his performance as deputy sheriff Dixon in the film. The movie was directed by Martin McDonagh and has already picked up the Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture.

McDormand invited all women nominees to stand during her speech and encouraged the film industry to support their projects. She also thanked the film’s director along with her family.

Following the acceptance, host Jimmy Kimmel joked that she deserved an Emmy Award for the speech. Watch it below.
