Bill Murray to perform New Worlds at the Berliner Philharmoniker

After recently announcing a pair of live UK shows, Bill Murray is set to perform New Worlds at the Berliner Philharmoniker on 1 June.

The scheduled show will see Murray team up with violinist Mira Wang, cellist Jan Vogler and pianist Vanessa Perez for the performance. With Murray on recitation and vocal duties, New Worlds is a piece based on American music and literature with texts by Ernest Hemingway, Walt Whitman, Mark Twain and others. Musical works to be included in the show are by Johann Sebastian Bach, George Gershwin Leonard Bernstein and Astor Piazzolla. Previously, Murray said on the collaboration, “I am bathing in this experience, really. I can’t get enough of it.”

The other two UK dates have been scheduled for Southbank Centre’s Royal Hall on 4 June and Edinburgh’s Festival Theatre on 18 June. Last year, Murray collaborated with Vogler on the album New Worlds, and recently, the actor was part of the voice cast of Wes Anderson’s Isle of Dogs, a stop-motion film that tells the story of a boy searching for his missing dog in Japan.
