Prince’s “unconventional and poetic” memoir to be published this year

Almost two years after Prince’s death, the release date for his official memoir, The Beautiful One, has now been confirmed for late 2018.

Prince’s long-awaited memoir, which has been described by the publisher as “an unconventional and poetic journey through his life and creative work,” is one step closer to coming to light. According to sources, Prince handwrote 50 pages of his autobiography before his death alongside author Dan Piepenbring. It has been reported that reproductions of these pages may appear in the book.

Since Prince’s death, the publishing process has been picked up by ICM publishing agent Esther Newberg, who’s confirmed the release will land “just in time for holiday season”.

Newberg also revealed that the agreement was struck in an unconventional way. “Editors don’t like to be in the same room making their pitches to the same potential clients,” she explained. “We had to do it because I knew [Prince] would not want to meet individually with editors.”

Last year, Beyoncé wrote the foreword to a biography on the late icon called Prince: A Private View. In October, a number of Prince’s personal possessions were archived at London’s O2 for an exhibition titled My Name is Prince. The archive can now be viewed at Amsterdam’s Beurs van Berlage.
