Thom Yorke previews new music from City Rats art installation

Thom Yorke has teamed up with composer Tarik Barri for a new collaboration.

Commissioned by the Institute for Sound and Music in Berlin, the Radiohead frontman has unveiled a snippet from the installation which will play at Martin Gropius Bau in Berlin on Saturday (21 April). Entitled City Rats, the work will play on the institute’s ISM Hexadome; a 54 speaker and six screen structure. The description of the piece explains, “All sounds are visible as objects in 3D space, and the camera’s position determines what we hear and where we hear it, so all harmonies, voices, melodies and rhythms are the result of our flight through space.”

Along with the installation, there will also be appearances from Brian Eno and Ben Frost & MFO. You can head to ISM’s website for more information.

Yorke also recently announced details of his UK and European solo tour. The run of shows will begin at the end of May in Florence, Italy, and tickets can be bought here.
