Dr Shoji Yamashiro, the composer behind the cult soundtrack for the anime film Akira, will be heading on NTS today at 4pm (BST).
The show will be a one-off special running through the film’s influences and inspirations. Originally released in 1988, the soundtrack was uniquely created first with the film later crafted to fit the score. It developed a cult fanbase and was repressed last year by Milan Records, with the package featuring an extensive commentary from Dr Yamashiro.
The Japanese composer was a part of the Geinoh Yamashirogumi collective – a group comprised of hundreds of members from different parts of Japanese society.
