Listen to Thom Yorke’s suspense-driven score in new Suspiria trailer

A new trailer for Luca Guadagnino’s remake of the 1977 horror classic Suspiria features new music from Thom Yorke.

Last year, it was revealed that the Radiohead frontman would be scoring his first feature film. In an interview with BBC 6 Music he said, “It’s absolutely terrifying. It’s hard because I’m way out of my comfort zone, and I can’t read music so it’s not like I’m writing for orchestra. I’m building it all myself. In fact, I watched Blade Runner twice at the weekend. ‘Oh, that sound, I could do something like that, that’s quite easy,’”

Acclaimed filmmaker Luca Guadagnino is best known for A Bigger Splash, I Am Love and Call Me By Your Name. The 21st century remake of Suspiria will star Dakota Johnson, Mia Goth, Chloë Grace Moretz and Tilda Swinton. The plot tells the story of a young American ballerina discovering the dark secrets of a prestigious German dance company.

Guadagnino has previously said, “Thom’s art transcends the contemporary. To have the privilege of his music and sound for Suspiria is a dream come true. The depth of his creation and artistic vision is so unique that our Suspiria will sound groundbreaking and will deeply resonate with viewers. Our goal is to make a movie that will be a disturbing and transforming experience: for this ambition, we could not find a better partner than Thom.”

Yorke is currently on a European solo tour. Watch the trailer for Suspiria via the player above, and read our interview with multidisciplinary artist Tarik Barri on preparing the live visuals for Yorke’s shows.
