The Get Out soundtrack is getting its first-ever physical release

Get Out

Michael Abels’ score for Jordan Peele’s critically acclaimed drama Get Out is getting a vinyl release this week.

Waxwork Records has announced that the double vinyl album will land this week on 15 June, and it’s set to be pressed on “garden party” marble green wax. The package will include artwork by illustrator Leslie Herman and an essay from Peele detailing the collaborative process with Abels.

In the essay, Peele writes, “I envisioned distinctly black voices harmonically creating an unnatural sound. The absence of hope. The void of the voiceless. A disembodied Negro spiritual. The Sunken Place.”

Released in 2017, Get Out was Peele’s directorial debut. In March, the film picked up an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay, beating Lady BirdThe Shape of WaterThe Big Sick and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. Peele became the first black screenwriter to win the award, and is only the third person to earn Oscar nominations for a directorial debut in the categories of Best Picture, Directing and Original Screenplay.
