Uganda’s Nyege Nyege Festival announces first names for 2018 line-up

Nyege Nyege are set to stage their upcoming edition at Jinja, Uganda, on 6-9 September.

This year, SHAPE – a platform for innovative music and audiovisual art from Europe – will be gearing up for a showcase at the Ugandan festival. Set to be spread over four days and five stages, the festival’s first line-up announcement includes Bristol duo Giant Swan, sound designer JASSS, co-founder of NON Worldwide Nkisi, Polish selector DJ Morgiana, Japanese musician Tomoko Sauvage, experimental metal outfit Tesa, producer Yamaneko, visual and sound artist Mika Oki and more.

Run by a union of 16 festivals, a roster of artists are selected annually for SHAPE, partaking in a wide-ranging programme of performances, residencies, workshops and panels across events. Nyege Nyege’s upcoming instalment will feature over 300 artists on the line-up, and two new stages this year – the Dark Star, and the Spirit of Uganda.
