At last night’s #MERKY Festival (3 July), the grime star paused his headline slot to watch England’s penalty shootout during the World Cup tournament.
Watching from a screen on the stage, the star celebrated England’s victorious goal with a performance of the Gang Signs & Prayer single Big For Your Boots and blasts of confetti. Watch footage of the moment England scored below.
#MERKY Festival is a two-day event curated by Stormzy himself. It ran from 2-3 July at Ibiza Rocks, and saw Octavian, Avelino, Mabel and more perform. Last night, the England football team made it into the quarter-finals of the World Cup. Penalty shootouts have long been a curse for the England team, but last night player Eric Driers scored England’s first ever penalty shootout victory over Colombia.
