Aphex Twin is definitely up to something
Yesterday (2 August), a third Aphex Twin logo mysteriously appeared at Amoeba Music’s flagship record store – in Hollywood. Sheared into a mass of ivy on the side of the building, the logo was spotted by a member of the modular gear store Perfect Circuit Audio.
Rumours of a new Aphex album began circulating on Monday morning (30 July) after logos appeared at London’s Elephant and Castle tube station, and then again in Turin the next day (31 August). Fittingly, Turin is the home of Club to Club Festival, where Aphex Twin is due to headline in November.
Back in 2014, the elusive producer announced his last full-length, Syro, via blimps over London and stencils around both the UK capital and New York. Last year, he dropped a one-off vinyl release, entitled London 03.06.17, at Field Day. It was later followed up by an online countdown on his website, which later revealed a back catalogue with several new tracks.
