Giggs calls The Sun “dirty filthy bastards” for insensitive coverage of UK drill

Giggs has called out UK tabloid The Sun for today’s front page coverage of UK drill music in light of the recent death of Moscow 17 member Incognito.

Taking to Instagram, the rapper posted an image of the newspaper’s front page, featuring drill group Moscow 17, a headline stating ‘Blood Money’ and further sub-headings linking the artists to gang wars. In the caption of his post, Giggs apologises to the mother of the late artist: “Sorry too the mother of this kid that died, prayers to you and you family, and sorry to turn this even more negative.”

“It’s strange how when our music gets popular we make your shit news paper,” the caption continues. “Black yutes were dying weekly and barely made the south London Press, and what a surprise that it’s not about a kid losing his life, it’s just some bullshit story you made up about profit and Westwood. Look how the story starts ‘Former Radio 1….’ not ‘Young kid loses his life…’ Suck your mums Sun newspaper.”

Calling the paper “dirty filthy bastards”, he goes on to say, “Your paper is so dead you’ve had to resort to writing about people you don’t care about. I give you lot another 2 years tops before you go bankrupt.”

Yesterday (2 August), Moscow 17 announced via their Twitter page that Incognito, real name Sidique Kamara, had passed away at age 23. Details later emerged of Kamara having been fatally stabbed in Camberwell, south London.

Recently, Giggs made an appearance on the track Swingin in da Whip by Da Beatfreakz. His last release is the 2017 mixtape Wamp 2 Dem, which features guest spots from Popcaan and 2 Chainz, and production from Zaythoven amongst others. Read Giggs’ post below.
