Bestival reportedly facing administration

BESTIVAL

Loans tycoon James Benamor has reportedly pulled the plug on the UK festival.

The Sunday Times claims that Benamor has filed administration notices at the High Court for Bestival, Camp Bestival and Bestival Ltd. Richmond Group Debt Capital, privately owned by Benamor, reportedly loaned Bestival 1.6 million in February.

The news comes amidst reports that Camp Bestival is under threat. The organisers have released a statement, in which they admit they’re facing “financial challenges”. However, they’ve also stated “a new partner [will] come on board with the financial commitments required to deliver Camp Bestival 2019”. Festival-goers are awaiting refunds after the event was forced to close early in July due to poor weather.

Rob Da Bank founded Bestival in 2004 and Camp Bestival in 2008. This year, the former hosted the likes of M.I.A., Grace Jones, Jorja Smith and Kelela.
