The former Crack Magazine cover star is set to release the new EP Encores 2 on 25 January 2019 via Erased Tapes.
Encores 2 is set to be the second instalment of an EP series accompanying his 2018 album All Melody. While its last chapter, Encores 1, features a pared-back, acoustic palette of sounds created using just a solo piano and harmonium, Encores 2 will be an ambient landscape from the All Melody sessions, recorded through an amplified stone well in Mallorca.
Accompanying the announcement is the EP’s first single, Spells. Clocking in at over 12 minutes, the track has been described by Frahm as an “astral showpiece”. Listen to the single below.
“The idea behind Encores is one we had from before All Melody; to separate releases each with their own distinct musical style and theme, perhaps even as a triple album,” Frahm said. “But All Melody became larger than itself and took over any initial concepts. I think the idea of Encores is like musical islands that compliment All Melody“.
