Berlin’s Funkhaus to host Sebastian Mullaert, Âme’s Frank Wiedemann and Mathew Jonson for Circle Of Live

Funkhaus Berlin

The trio will play together at the former GDR broadcast centre on 20 December.

Label and live electronic event series Circle Of Live is heading to the Funkhaus for a unique sonic experience from members Sebastian Mullaert, Âme’s Frank Wiedemann and Mathew Jonson. The night will also see longtime Mullaert collaborators Ljudbilden & Piloten perform, along with spoken word poet Boelja.

As the evening has been conceptualised as a way of promoting improvisation, the music will not be played from a stage, meaning that the artists and audience will be on the same level within the venue. Without any formal event structure, the performers will work with a specially designed live setup that can accommodate any number of participants playing at once.

As well as an event series, Circle Of Live is a record label curated by Mullaert in order to, in his own words, “honour the values of spontaneity and improvisation.” The imprint has just released its sophomore EP, a live recording of the group’s performance at Freerotation 2018. Circle Of Live is currently touring internationally, with dates scheduled for Tel Aviv, Paris, Barcelona and London’s Village Underground. See below for a full list.
