Donald Glover joins the search engine’s list of most searched artists this year, alongside Cardi B and Travis Scott.
Google has revealed their The Year in Search report today (12 December), detailing what users have been looking up most over the past year. The report presents the top searched people and topics across a range of categories including film, music and news.
On the list of the world’s most Googled musicians for 2018, Childish Gambino has landed in the number eight spot, behind the likes of Cardi B and Travis Scott. Spice Girls, who announced their reunion this year, ranked as the second most searched act, while Kendrick Lamar was the ninth.
Gambino, the recording alias of Donald Glover, released the viral video This is America in May 2018. Directed by Hiro Murai, the single went on to inspire various remakes including This is Nigeria, by rapper Falz.
Additionally, the musician sparked rumours that he was working on a film called Guava Island alongside Rihanna, which he later confirmed by premiering a movie trailer at his Pharos Festival in New Zealand.
