Aphex Twin releases three tracks in online store

Aphex Twin

Crack Magazine’s November cover star has shared two versions of Avril 14th and the “new” track Mangle 11 online.

Aphex Twin has uploaded additional material to his online store, and added them to the 2001 album Drukqs. Two variations of the piano track Avril 14th were dropped earlier this month, including a “Reversed Music Not Audio” version and a “Half Speed Alternative Version”. Mangle 11 – labelled as a new track – has also been added this week (20 December).

According to fans on Reddit, a third “Double Tempo Half Speed” rework of Avril 14th was released and then removed from the online store on 4 December. Forum users have also noted that Mangle 11, despite being categorised as a “new” release, sounds like 2003’s Mangle 11 [Circuit Bent V.I.P. Mix].

It’s not the first time Richard D. James has uploaded his material to the internet with little to no explanation. In Crack’s Issue 94 cover story, Richard D. James said of his infamous 2015 SoundCloud dump: “I’ve got all this music and I thought if I died what the fuck would my kids do? What would my wife do? They’d get really stressed out and they wouldn’t know what to do with it all. So I just thought I’d give it away, then they don’t have to think about it.”
