The Spanish festival has revealed the line-up for its 2019 edition.

Taking to the airwaves today (5 December), the team behind the annual event announced the line-up over Radio Primavera Sound. For an edition called The New Normal, the festival has, for the first time, curated a gender-balanced line-up, of which over 50 percent is comprised of women.

Amongst its line-up of celebrity acts, there’s Erykah Badu, Solange, Cardi B, Future and Janelle Monáe. Spanish singer Rosalía also appears on the announcement, along with J Balvin, FKA twigs, Robyn, ambient pioneer Midori Takada, Tirzah, and former Crack Magazine cover stars Charli XCX, Kali Uchis and Christine & the Queens.

Amongst the festival’s more guitar-focused acts, there’s Mac DeMarco, Snail Mail, Low, Courtney Barnett and Aldous Harding. Rappers Nas, Pusha T, Danny Brown, Flohio, Tierra Whack, CupcakKe and slowthai join the programme, and elsewhere there’s Princess Nokia and Rico Nasty.

SOPHIE has been announced as part of Primavera’s electronic programme, along with Coucou Chloe and Aïsha Devi. Sets will also be helmed by Helena Hauff, Objekt, Nina Kraviz, Veronica Vasicka, Laurel Halo, Courtesy, Object Blue, Dr Rubinstein, Overmono, Steffi, Batu, Peach, JASSS, Peggy Gou, Yaeji and more.

Primavera returns to Barcelona on 30 May to 1 June. This year, Primavera hosted the likes of Björk, Nick Cave and Tyler, the Creator. Crack Magazine noted its “glistening ocean-side setting” and line-up of “cult favourites smuggling a disarming, poetic intensity into music”.
