New international campaign launched to combat gender inequality within dance music

Bumble have partnered up with The Media Nanny, ID&T and Astralwerks to present Making Moves in Music (M.M.M), a new campaign launched to try and combat gender inequality within electronic dance music. The aim of the initiative is to get more women entering dance music.

The female first networking app will provide female DJs “access to top music executives for mentorship and masterclasses in top European cities and Los Angeles” as well as “opportunity to work with renowned electronic music label Astralwerk s, and a guaranteed performance at one of ID&Ts biggest festivals this summer.”

The initiative is supported by evidence including the 46% gender pay gap in the global music business and the fact that last year 70% of festival acts were male (19% were female while 11% were mixed gender).

The campaign is starting in Europe, launching with a call-out for female DJs in Germany. One rising DJ will be given the opportunity to perform at Mysteryland 2019 and to work with electronic music imprint Astralwerks on new music.
