Moodymann allegedly arrested at gunpoint, shares video of police confrontation

The Detroit legend, real name Kenny Dixon Jr, posted a video to Instagram last night (16 January) showing his confrontation with armed police.

Filmed from inside his vehicle, the video shows a policeman holding a gun outside his car, demanding that Dixon unlock the door. The caption to his since-deleted post stated: “HP police came n (MY BACKYARD) demanding proof of ownership and this is how they reacted (Went 2 jail again)”.

He continued, “charged me 4 Breaking and entering on my own property even though I had keys. what u can’t c is 9 other officers pointing their AR15 directly at my head…next time just pull the MF trigger let’s get this shit over with (I’m tired) I’m so tired.”

A Highland Police Office told Pitchfork that someone named Kenneth Dixon was arrested last weekend, on 12 January. Someone had reported “suspicious behaviour” from Dixon and the police later found him in his van. Dixon reportedly had the keys to the building and van, but refused to show police his license. Police say that Dixon proceeded to record the incident on his phone. He claimed he had a gun and reached for the floor of the van, before he was arrested and later released.

Detroit Free Press have stated that the police will release a report today (17 January).
