The new LP, entitled On Time Out of Time, is slated for release on 8 March.

Composer William Basinski announced the new album today (9 January). According to the press release, the LP makes use of “the sounds of the merging of two distant massive black holes, 1.3 billion years ago,” obtained via “exclusive source recordings from the interferometers of LIGO (Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory).”

The material featured in On Time Out of Time was originally composed for the 2017 art installations ER=EPR and Orbihedron by Evelina Domnitch and Dmitry Gelfand, exhibited in Limits of Knowing at Berlin’s Martin-Gropius-Bau. The duo, born in Belarus and Russia respectively, are known for their multidisciplinary practice combining technology, physics and philosophy.

On Time Out of Time is available to pre-order via Temporary Residence. Check out the tracklist below, and read Crack Magazine’s in-depth feature with William Basinski.
