It looks like Donald Glover and Rihanna’s collaboration will be a visual album

Cinematographer and collaborator Christian Sprenger lists the Guava project as a visual album on his CV.

In August 2018, Cuban publication Vistar broke the news that Glover and Rihanna were collaborating on a project. Photos circulated online of the pair on set in Cuba, working on what was believed to be a film called Guava Island. On 24 November, a trailer for Guava Island premiered at Glover’s Pharos festival in New Zealand. It was described as an action/crime movie, with the pair starring as lovers and partners in crime. Furthermore, it was confirmed that longtime Gambino collaborator Hiro Murai – who directed the video for This is America – was at the helm of the visual project.

Now, it’s been revealed that the project could, in fact, be a visual album. Cinematographer Christian Sprenger – who’s collaborated with Glover on Atlanta – has listed Guava as a visual album on his resume, made public via his Artistry profile. We’ve reached out to Sprenger for comment.

Last year, Glover announced that his This is America tour would be his last. However, last month composer and collaborator Ludwig Göransson told Extra that he’d been “working closely with Donald for a little while”.

Mastering engineer Mike Bozzi said, “We’ve been in the studio working on new songs, and [Glover’s] got another vision that he’s working out. I can’t tell you when it’s coming out but something big is coming.” Watch the video below.

Meanwhile, over on Rihanna’s Instagram page, the star revealed she’s been in the studio. An image was posted to her account yesterday (12 March) featuring the baby of her personal assistant Jennifer Rosales in a recording studio. The photo was also shared to Rosales’ Instagram page, with the caption stating that she’d had “the first listen” of new music.
