Le Guess Who? unveils first wave of acts for 2019 edition

87 artists have been announced for the upcoming edition of Le Guess Who?

Le Guess Who? has made its first artist announcement for 2019, confirming Gruff Rhys, Cate le Bon, Deerhunter, Acid Mothers Temple and more for the general line-up. Rare performances will be helmed by Ustad Saami – a pursuer of ancient Islamic devotional music, qawwali – Asha Puthli and Ethio-groove artist Ayalew Mesfin.

Having previously confirmed Jenny Hval as one of the event’s curators, the multi-disciplinary artist is set to bring Lolina, Sarah Davachi, French composer Félicia Atkinson and Oslo collective DNA? AND? to the festival. The Bug has also released his line-up, confirming King Midas Sound, Godflesh, a world premiere of a collaboration between Kevin Richard Martin and Hatis Noit, Jah Shaka, and Zonal featuring Moor Mother for the event.

Psychedelic outfit Moon Duo curates a programme featuring Nivhek – the new project of Grouper’s Liz Harris – Swedish rock band Träd, Gräs och Stenar, sound artist Michele Mercure and cosmic jazz group Idris Ackamoor & the Pyramids. Furthermore, NYC producer Patrick Higgins enlists pianists Conrad Tao and Vicky Show for his bookings, along with composer Tyondai Braxton and Miranda Cuxton.

Le Guess Who? will take place across 20 locations in the centre of Utrecht on 7-10 November. Venue spaces include theatres, galleries and warehouses.
