Tyler, the Creator chats about dream collaborations, IGOR and his favourite rapper Pusha T in a new interview.

In a recent hour-long interview with Zane Lowe, Tyler, the Creator revealed some of his dream collaborations including singer Billie Eilish. He also revealed that Jack White played on IGOR, though wasn’t credited and revealed he has plans to make a jazz album one day.

Midway through the interview, Tyler talks about wanting to work with Beyoncé and Jay-Z as well American singer Billie Eilish, saying he thinks the American singer’s album When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go, is “sick”. He added, “I wanna work with her. I don’t know what the fuck we would make, even if it don’t come out, if it’s trash, I still just wanna see what we could [do together].”

During the interview Tyler also reveals that Jack White was willingly left un-credited on IGOR. White plays guitar on ARE WE STILL FRIENDS?, but Tyler claims that he didn’t want formal credit due because “he couldn’t hear himself” when listening back to the album.

When Lowe quizzes him on his choice to host an array of guests on both IGOR and Flower Boy Tyler responded saying he wanted to take a step back: “I think I ruin songs. I hate my voice. I think I’m a fucking ridiculously talented producer [though].”

IGOR was released in May, featuring collaborations with slowthai, Kanye and Solange. It impressed critics and fans alike. In the interview, Tyler also chats about his longtime favourite rapper Pusha T, who reached out to Tyler after the release of IGOR to tell him he “killed it”. “You don’t know how much this means to me,'” Tyler said of Pusha, with whom he’s previously collaborated.

The interview closes with Lowe commenting on the impact of Tyler’s former collective Odd Future. “I still don’t know the impact that we may have made on a generation,” Tyler explains. The rapper also suggested that his own music would be taking a back-seat for a while, stating “I’m gonna spend the next two years, probably working on clothes and just producing for others.”
