Dev Hynes has created the soundtrack to Lena Waithe’s latest project.
The former Crack Magazine cover star announced the news yesterday (31 July) and shared a short clip from the film. Dubbed as the “modern day Bonnie and Clyde” Queen and Slim stars Get Out‘s Daniel Kaluuya alongside Jodie Turner-Smith as two young lovers who become unlikely fugitives after witnessing a shooting. It’s set to be the latest body of work from Blood Orange since his Angel’s Pulse mixtape, released in July. Check out the trailer for Queen and Slim via the player above.

Written and produced by Waithe and directed by Melina Matsoukas (who’s previously worked on Beyoncé’s Formation), Queen and Slim first debuted at CinemaCon in spring, and a trailer premiered during the BET Awards in June. The film is reportedly a “powerful, consciousness-raising love story that confronts the staggering human toll of racism and the life-shattering price of violence.” The cast also features Chloë Sevigny and Flea.
Queen and Slim will be released in North America on 27 November, and in the UK on 31 January 2020.
