Leroy Burgess and Louie Vega have teamed up to remake Barely Breaking Even

The pair are joined by disco producer Patrick Adams for a rework of the classic New York anthem.

To honour 500 releases Barely Breaking Even Records have enlisted Leroy Burgess, Louie Vega and Patrick Adams to rework the Universal Robot Band track that gave the label its name. Originally recorded by Burgess and his Universal Robot Band bandmates, Barely Breaking Even was first released in 1982 on Moonglow records and quickly became an era-defining record.

With Louie Vega spearheading the project, the celebratory BBE release will see the trio share two new versions of the track, a boogie mix and an NYC house remix, reflecting Burgess and Vega’s respective paths through New York dance music. Louie Vega presents Leroy Burgess & The Universal Robot Band feat. Patrick Adams – Barely Breaking Even is released via BBE on 27 September and is available to pre-order now via Bandcamp.
