Solange announces residency at Sydney Opera House for 2020

The four-night residency sees the artist return to Australia next year.

Solange has announced a series of performances at the Sydney Opera House for January 2020. The four-date tour will be the Grammy Award-winning artist’s only Australian appearances following the release of her latest album When I Get Home, which came out in March this year. The residency marks a one-off for Solange who, according to the Opera House’s head of contemporary music Ben Marshall, has “never before played an arts institution twice.” The show promises a new 360° visual set with a live band and dancers.

“I am incredibly honoured Solange has chosen to return to the Sydney Opera House this summer for her only Australian shows,” Marshall stated.

“Her incendiary combination of political incisiveness, cultural weight and sheer musical brilliance has carried her to a singular and inspiring place in today’s artistic landscape.”

The show is set to showcase 2019’s When I Get Home, the critically acclaimed sonic tribute to the artist’s hometown of Houston, Texas. It will be her first Australian gig since her A Seat at the Table show at Vivid last year.

The performances will take place on 27, 28, 30 and 31 January 2020. Head to Sydney Opera House’s website for tickets and more information.
