Björk will re-release Vulnicura as a VR experience this Friday

Björk has announced that she will be re-releasing her 2015 studio album, Vulnicura, as a virtual reality experience.

This is not the first time the album has been re-visited, however, with Vulnicura also available in a strings, voice and viola organista-only format.

Sharing a two-page document via Twitter, the former Crack cover artist stated, “I am so happy to share finally the complete version of Vulnicura VR with all the songs now available in one place – it is a digital home for all the virtual reality videos we made.” Björk continued, “Vulnicura VR has been a long journey which started when me and Andy Thomas Huang started talking about how we wanted to document Stonemilker“.

Alongside the 360 video that accompanies Stonemilker, the VR experience will encompass previously exhibited visuals for Lionsong, Notget, Mouth Mantra, Quicksand, Family and Black Lake.

Through her statement, Björk also shared the way in which this project was inspired by our evolving music consumption, “it is too easy for musicians to turn pessimistic after CDs have evaporated but I wanted to have courage to grow along with how 360 sound and vision tech was growing”.

The VR experience will be accessible from this Friday (6 September).
