The Neptunes are teasing something

Official Twitter and Instagram accounts have launched for The Neptunes, the legendary production duo made up of Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo. The Neptunes are credited by many for creating the sound of early-00s hip-hop and pop.

The verified accounts appeared yesterday (17 May) and have only posted once, sharing an image of a starry sky with no caption. Both accounts only follows Williams and Hugo.

It’s sparked speculation that something is coming. The duo released a compilation album, Clones, in 2003. The album featured Clipse, Kelis, Nas and others. Elsewhere, The Neptunes produced hits for Britney Spears, Nelly, Ol’ Dirty Bastard, Snoop Dogg, Jay Z, Mariah Carey and Justin Timberlake.

Most recently, Williams and Hugo’s band N.E.R.D made a comeback with 2017’s No One Ever Really Dies LP.

Speaking candidly to The Guardian in January, Kelis claimed that The Neptunes kept all the profits from her first two albums. Neither Williams nor Hugo responded to the claims.
