Ryuichi Sakamoto has shared a new concert film, Playing the Piano for the Isolated.
The legendary composer and Yellow Magic Orchestra co-founder shared the film on YouTube yesterday (17 May). The performance features an appearance from Hidejiro Honjoh, a celebrated classical musician known for playing the a three-stringed Japanese instrument called the shamisen.
The performance was recorded in Tokyo in April. The concert includes performances of Andata 2017’s async and his iconic theme to 1983’s Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence.
