Björk announces three orchestral performances in aid of Icelandic women’s shelter

Bjork

Björk will perform three shows in August.

Björk has announced a run of orchestral concerts – with audiences – for this August in Reykjavik, in partnership with Iceland Airwaves. Taking place over three weekends, each show will see Björk perform alongside a different group of Icelandic musicians, all of whom have worked with the artist previously. The shows will be entirely orchestral, “without beats and electronics.”

On 9 August Björk will perform with the Hamrahlíð Choir, while on 15 and 23 August, she will perform with sections of the Icelandic Symphony Orchestra – strings on 15 August and brass on 23 August, alongside the flute septet Viibra. All three performances will also be broadcast via live-stream, with viewers encouraged to donate to Kvennaathvarfið, a women’s shelter in Reykjavik.
