The rapper was killed in a home invasion robbery on 19 February.

Five arrests were made last week, and yesterday (13 July) four suspects were charged with the murder of 20-year-old artist Pop Smoke. The announcement was made by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

The four suspects are made up of two men – Corey Walker and Keandre Rodgers – and two teens, ages 17 and 15. Charged with murder during a robbery and burglary, Walker and Rodgers are both eligible for the death penalty. If convicted as charged, the two could either face the death penalty or life in prison without the possibility of parole. The two teens were each charged with one count of murder and robbery in juvenile court.

Pop Smoke was killed at a home in Hollywood Hills. A break in occurred at around 4.30am and several shots were fired by a group of masked burglars. The rapper was taken to West Hollywood’s Cedars-Sinai Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

The artist’s posthumous album Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon was released this month and topped the Billboard 200 chart.
