Top Boy wins BAFTA Television Craft Award

Top Boy‘s Des Hamilton won the BAFTA Television Craft Award for Scripted Casting last night (17 July).

Scripted Casting was a new award at the ceremony, which was held as a digital event yesterday. The award gives recognition to brilliant casting in television. Top Boy competed against Sex Education, Chernobyl and Giri/Haji for the award.

Top Boy first aired on Channel 4 in 2011. After two seasons, the channel dropped the show and it was rebooted by Netflix in 2019, with Drake as an executive producer. Following the release of the third season, Top Boy shared a mini-documentary on the series. The show has confirmed it will return a fourth season. Ashley Walters, Kano, Micheal Ward and Little Simz will reprise their roles as Dushane, Sully, Jamie and Shelley.
