The Ibiza DJ had been diagnosed with colon cancer.
José Padilla died peacefully in his sleep, in Ibiza, on Sunday (18 October). The new was confirmed via a statement posted to his Facebook page. While it doesn’t state the exact cause of death, the DJ had been battling colon cancer and was diagnosed earlier in the summer.
The Facebook post reads: “His family and friends would like to say thank you to everybody who sent donations and messages of support to help make his last few months easier, and to all the staff of Can Misses Hospital for taking care of him until the end.”
“Now he has gone and the sunset in Ibiza will never be the same without him, but the beautiful music of José Padilla will stay with us forever.” [sic]
DJ Harvey has posted a tribute to Padilla online. “A DJ that defined the very word Balearic,” he wrote. “A master selector and hedonistic pleasure seeker. I am honoured to have been graced by his influence and presence. We loved to moan and laugh together. He will be missed.” [sic]
