Octavian accused of domestic abuse

Octavian

TW: Abuse, domestic violence

Octavian has been accused of physical, verbal and psychological abuse. The allegations were made by a former partner, who is currently residing in a different country for her “own safety and wellbeing” [sic].

In an Instagram post, she alleges the first instance of abuse was after she became pregnant with their child. After pressurising her to have an abortion, Octavian allegedly beat her with a hammer, kicked and threatened to kill her. Other allegations include Octavian attacking her with a screwdriver, controlling what she wore and pushing her down the stairs. Through her Instagram stories, she’s also shared screenshots of conversations and videos.

A post reads: “The reason I have decided to share my story now, just before his album release, is because I don’t want anyone to look up to this man. I particularly do not want young girls to listen to the dark music he makes to celebrate his abuse. He has an entire song about violently killing me with a machete called My Head which in a (since deleted) interview with DJ Semtex, Octavian admits to the song being about me and proudly laughs calling it ‘art'”. [sic]

The interview is the 40th episode of Spotify’s Who We Be Talks podcast. At around the 25:50 mark, DJ Semtex touches upon the track My Head. Octavian replies, “I was breaking up with my girl, my girl was in the studio… I was writing these lyrics. Everything on that track is about a moment. It’s very basic, exactly what was happening in that time. All these dark thoughts I had in my head.”

The statement from his former partner says she left him in April 2020. A police report has allegedly been filed. Read her posts below.
