Four Tet announces album with Madlib

Four Tet has announced his involvement in a brand new LP by legendary producer Madlib.

In a social media note, Four Tet detailed the nature of the collaboration and announced the record would be coming out in January.

“We decided to work on this together with him sending me tracks, loops, ideas and experiments that I would arrange, edit, manipulate and combine,” said Four Tet. The record was eventually constructed across “a couple of years.”

Four Tet also outlined the input of Eothan Alapatt (sic) who is partnered with Madlib on the Madlib Invazion imprint. “Eothan Alapatt worked with us on the whole project guiding and advising and has now prepared the album for release. He’s had [legendary US audio engineer] Bernie Grundman cut the vinyl and everything is in production and will be ready soon.” Alapatt shared his own post about the project.

The album is called Sound Ancestors and will be released in January. The first single, Road Of The Lonely Ones drops today (14 December) and will be premiered by Mary Anne Hobbs’ BBC 6Music show.
