The ICA will host an event on Mark Fisher’s Postcapitalist Desire: The Final Lectures.

The London art institution has announced the latest event for its series For k-punk, which was launched in 2018 to celebrate the life and work of Mark Fisher. Focusing on his final lectures, Postcapitalist Desire, the ICA has enlisted five artists and musicians to respond to the text for its latest event.

Oneohtrix Point Never will premiere a new audiovisual work in response to the collection of transcripts, as will author Tim Lawrence – who wrote Love Saves the Day: A History of American Dance Music Culture, 1970-79 – producer Iceboy Violet, London-based duo Time is Away and the founders of the archive project INCURSIONS. Accompanying visuals have been created by artist Sweatmother.

The ICA is inviting people to “listen together into the night, sharing time when they cannot share space”. This event marks the series’ seventh incarnation, which has moved online. The five responses will premiere on 30 January, and it’ll be available to watch for 30 days afterwards. Tickets will remain free until 1am (GMT) on 1 February.

Head to the ICA’s website to book tickets. Read: K-punk, capitalist realism and acid communism.
