Daft Punk are disbanding

After 28 years, the electronic duo have split up.

The announcement was made via a eight-minute video titled Epilogue. At around the 5:24 mark, the screen says: “1993-2021”. Watch via the player above.

The duo’s publicist also confirmed the news to Pitchfork, though no reason for the split was given.

The duo, made up of Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, were first formed in 1993 in Paris. Across decades, they released eight LPs, including their landmark debut Homework in 1997. Some of their most recognisable singles include 2013’s Get Lucky, 2007’s One More Time and 2001’s Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger.

We will update this story as we learn more.
