Lou Reed and Laurie Anderson are puppets in Liz Phair’s new video

Hey Lou stars puppet reimaginings of Lou Reed and Laurie Anderson.

Liz Phair is back with her first song in two years, entitled Hey Lou. The track is an “an ode to the romance of geniuses” and pays tribute to Lou Reed and Laurie Anderson’s storied relationship. Its visual continues on with this theme and stars puppet versions of Reed and Anderson.

The new song was produced by Phair’s longtime collaborator Brad Wood. It follows up her 2019 single Good Side as well as her memoir Horror Stories, which was also shared in 2019. Both tracks are expected to feature on Phair’s forthcoming album Soberish.

“Have you ever wondered what love looks like for your favourite celebrity couple behind closed doors?” says Phair on the new song. “Hey Lou imagines a day in the life of two music legends, whose union was an inspiration for rock bands and a source of curiosity for die hard romantics.”

Phair also unveiled a new live streamed event alongside the track and video. The event, which is set to take place on 3 March 2021, will see Phair performing material both new and classic alongside Wood. The pair will also engage in a Q&A. Tickets are on sale now.
